When you are building a website and creating e-mail addresses, you need a domain name. Domain names are created on a first come, first served basis; there is only one of each domain name in the entire world. On our pages you can find out if the domain name you want is available. For the actual registration, you must go through a domain name provider.

When you order a domain name subcsription as a private individual, we need to know your national identity number in order to know who you are. To protect your national identity number going forward, you create your own personal ID with us. You use your personal ID instead of your national identity number when you order a domain name subscription, and in any future follow-up concerning your subscription.

Subscription terms and conditions

When you get yourself a domain name, you establish a subscription for the domain name. You hold the right to use the domain name for as long as the subscription is continued. The parties to the subscription contract are you, as the subscriber, and Norid, as the party responsible for the service, and the contract regulates your rights and obligations. You accept the terms and conditions by signing an applicant's declaration.
